Our calm and welcoming environment allows girls to make excellent progress and achieve academically, whilst developing their character through an extensive extra-curricular programme and superb pastoral support. We celebrate our diversity and are proud of who we are 

We foster a caring, supportive and happy environment which encourages our girls to flourish. In terms of behaviour, uniform and Academy standards we are very traditional and have high expectations. We expect pupils to wear the full Academy uniform correctly, attend well, behave respectfully to others and to work hard.

We also believe that education is more than just academic success and aim to develop the whole person. Our curriculum nurtures the development of qualities and skills alongside the acquisition of knowledge. It is broad and balanced, develops ‘cultural capital’ with enrichment activities and is complimented by a wide range of extra-curricular activities and events, which we encourage all girls to take part in.

Nottingham Girls’ Academy currently educates approximately 890 young women, who range in age from 11 to 19 years. The roll continues to grow year-on-year and the Academy is now oversubscribed throughout Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.

Pupils study towards a broad range of GCSE and vocational qualifications and are encouraged to participate in an array of character building extra-curricular opportunities and experiences. 

The Academy opened in September 2011, in the premises that were occupied by the Manning School for Girls. A brand new main teaching block was opened in 2012 and the remainder of the site was fully refurbished or demolished to create recreational areas. 

Pupils have access to a range of exceptional resources and facilities, including purpose built science laboratories, computer suites, technology rooms, a dance studio and sports areas.  A brand new, 350 seat dining hall was added in September 2021.

Those who wish to (and meet the entry requirements) can continue their study at NGA Sixth Form, which occupies its own block and delivers a broad range of A-Level and Level 3 Vocational courses. 

Ofsted most recently carried out a Section 5 inspection ('Graded Inspection') in November 2023. They graded the academy as 'Outstanding' in all areas. You can view the full report here.
